I just bought a new cast- iron cookware. How do I take care of it so it will last long as my grandmother’s?

The new set usually has a protective coating on it. The idea is to remove the protective coating by scrubbing it with a scouring pad, soap and really hot water. Camp Chef cookware, however, comes in pre-seasoned and ready to use.  For your cookware to last, get used to the idea that seasoning is an ongoing process and not a one time activity.  Seasoning prevents rust and gives it a natural non-stick surface.  If you’re wondering why the color isn’t as dark as your grandmother’s cookware, in time it will turn very dark till they look very black.  The more you use and cook in it, with proper seasoning, your cookware will be worth more than the price you paid for it. It is truly valuable tool equipment for outdoor cooking.
